Song Notes

I received this song during a difficult period in my life. My Lord had taken me out of my home church to attend another church. I know He was with me but I felt a bit insecure.

I had invited new people to our house for lunch and I was preparing it in the kitchen. Our children were playing in the garden. I remember feeling very joyful and very elated just knowing that Jesus was with me. My heart began to worship Him. Then this song came to me.

Suddenly our son, Jordan, was thrown upside down out of his buggy and cut his lip. But my reaction was “Joy” instead of concern. I had to contain myself not to burst out laughing.

This song has taught me that Joy has nothing at all to do with circumstances – it is a fruit of the Spirit. His Joy in my heart was also my strength. His kingdom had truly come into my heart.
